Problem addressed
Among the main difficulties encountered by the protagonist to favor her integration, the lack of truthful information provided by some entities stands out, creating fear and uncertainty throughout the process. Feeling continuous denials by entities generated her frustration and even more when she discovered that the information they had given her was not the correct one.
On the other hand, the slow process of bureaucratic procedures has made integration in Spain difficult, since it creates a legal limbo that hinders access to many services, including health.
Resilience strategies addressed by women
The strategies developed have been, in the first place, the desire to be able to bring their son and daughter to Spain as soon as possible. On the other hand, the fact that she was continuously training and looking for resources to improve her situation allowed her to know the association of which she is now a part and which made her feel as if she had "been born again."
Adopting an active attitude in the face of adversity has allowed her to face the difficulties that have arisen in Spain, this has been achieved thanks to her strength and confidence in improving the starting situation.
Description of the integration initiative implemented
The main aspects that have favored its integration have been:
- The help and guidance received by an Association of migrants.
- Labor networks made up of researchers from some Spanish universities that favored their development and job performance.
- The informal networks established from their participation in the association.
- Maintain relations with the family network that is in the country of origin, especially with her daughter.
- Living with her daughter and son makes her feel safer knowing that they are in a better situation here than in their country of origin.
- The development and participation in training activities that allows her to feel fulfilled.
- The passion for her profession, and specifically for alternative methods of conflict, as well as her desire to implement different educational projects.
Personal story
The protagonist, originally from Puerto Rico, has been living in Spain for three years. Faced with the risk situation that she lived in her country, generated by her job performance as a judge, she decided to migrate.
In 2018, her situation in Puerto Rico was complicated by the death threats she was receiving and the murder of her co-worker. These events prompted her to make the decision to migrate to Spain.
She managed to leave her children safe, as far as possible, and with the visa granted to her for non-profit residence and the savings she had from her, she moved to Spain.
Upon her arrival, she dedicated herself to giving training courses, however, faced with the need to obtain more financial resources, she decided to work as an internal caregiver. It was a very difficult period for the protagonist due to her low salary; the limitations that she had of her, since she was aware that her rights were being violated not only of her as a worker, but also as a person; and the great loneliness that she felt, because although she went out on weekends to give workshops, the social relationships that she maintained were with the students, not with friends. However, it was a job that the protagonist herself considers "survival". When she felt that she couldn't take it anymore, she decided to leave him and dedicate herself to the production of handicrafts in parallel with the training courses and workshops, an activity that she has never stopped doing given her passion and dedication to the subject. .
Faced with the loneliness that she felt and the adversities that she was facing, she decided to search online for an association that would serve migrant women, it was there when she met the Association with which she collaborates. Although she had previously attended other associations, in none had she received the attention that she needed. Seeing the operation of the entity, the objectives and the mission, she felt that this association was what she needed. She currently participates actively in the association. She there she feels totally fulfilled.
Attending to her family, she has finally managed to get her son and her youngest daughter to come and live in Spain. Both her daughter and her son are very satisfied training in the areas they like, having overcome all the adversities that were presented to her by this administrative situation.
In addition to her sentimental relationship, her stay in Spain has brought her very positive experiences. Although she occasionally she has felt that she has not received adequate treatment, the rest of the time she has felt very well in Spain. Also, thanks to the association she has managed to create a network of friends.
On the other hand, in Spain, both she and her children feel more freedom and security than in Puerto Rico. Especially in the case of women, she considers that, comparatively, Spanish women are more advanced than Puerto Ricans, having more possibilities to develop and freely choose what they want. In her case, for example, she feels very satisfied and fulfilled by being able to carry out the tasks that she is truly passionate about, regaining her creativity and desire to work.
Despite this, she emphasizes the difficulties that the migrant population continues to have, since, in her view, the feeling of rejection towards migrants continues to predominate in the indigenous population because they consider that they take away the benefits of the natives. In particular, the protagonist emphasizes the greater complexity of migration projects developed by women compared to men, which is worse in the case of migrant mothers, since they are more vulnerable, specifically those who lead the family. Given this, she proposes the need to design a policy aimed at helping migrant women, as well as the need to unify criteria among the different entities and administrations, ensuring greater equality and access to resources.
For this reason, her expectations include the desire that the work of the association in which she collaborates becomes more extensive, being able to reach and help all migrant women in need. Likewise, at work she wants to continue training and create a system that can educate people based on alternative methods of conflict. On a personal level, she sees herself achieving the well-being of her daughters and son. For this, she wants them to train and exercise what they are passionate about.

Results and Impact
The protagonist's situation has improved exponentially since her arrival in Spain. In the first place, she has meant an improvement in her quality of life, she has shed the fear and insecurity that she had in her country, favoring greater freedom and well-being. Second, she has continued to train her allowing for personal growth and development. Third, the migration process has empowered the protagonist, feeling totally fulfilled in the different areas of her life. Fourth, having her children migrated to Spain has improved her family life.
All these reasons show the progress that the migration process has meant for the protagonist. One of her main objectives is to help women who are in a similar situation to hers. Although she still has many goals to achieve, her conclusion is "I feel really happy."
